into the wild
I joined Fred the other day to check his trap lines. He goes everyday, at least twice daily.
I love walking in the woods. I love the witnessing of what the natural world is up too. That is, without disturbing it with my two stomping human feet, stammering through the snow! Fred and I read an article in a book we rented from the library describing how the native americans walked through the woods without making a sound. We tried it out, but lets say we need lots more practice!
I love clear, snowy days like this. They are few and far between during the winters months, so when the sun shows his face, I am there with my face in every ray, soaking every moment of it up. The appreciation one has for the natural phenomenon's around us, are never taken for granted with the hard winters we have.
A quick visit to the beavers showed more signs of more work. They are busy, busy little creatures. The dam is not only longer but they are now showing signs of felling larger trees. This means that the dam is getting big enough for the need of larger trees.
You can see the teeth marks left on the tree. It appears these beavers aren't too big, but that could be that they just have some smaller ones in the community working on the home.
The peace that surrounds the wild. The presence of wild, uncontrolled living. I feel at home here. I feel at peace here. My soul shares an infinity with this place...
and its secrets! (ssshhh....I know where the fairies play!)
